About the Organization
The Tamarind Tree School is located in Sogve, a tribal settlement of Dahanu in Maharashtra, Western India. Children come to the school mainly from the hamlets of Sogve and neighbouring villages. Teachers at this school are drawn from the community as well as from cities like Mumbai. Teachers utilize open source software to introduce children to vital concepts in maths, science and language. The school is also very popular as the young ones are provided with nutritious morning and mid-day meals with produce sourced from local farms.
Great Eastern CSR Foundation funding is going a long way in helping the school meet its expenses and bring vital education to a community that is often ignored by larger institutes. Consequently, through our funding 165 Tribal childrenare receiving quality educations.
