MDF was founded in 1996 by Ms. Chetna Sinha. MDF works to create
women entrepreneurs through skill-based training programs. Its aim
is to create rural women entrepreneurs, build sustainable
opportunities for livelihood for these women and mainstream them
to become an important part of the country’s economic growth. The
Mann Deshi umbrella of organizations currently serves 5 districts
in the province of Maharashtra and 2 districts in the province of
Karnataka. MDF operates:

• 7 Mann Deshi Business School (one at each bank branch)
• 3 Mobile Business Schools
GECSRF funds are helping MDF build and develop a business school in Mhaswad, (Satara district) in which rural women will receive business management training. Through our funding, more than 9000 women will receive the training needed to successfully run their own businesses.

Inga Health Foundation provides free surgery for children who are affected by facial deformities (such as cleft lip pallet) from families that cannot afford corrective surgery. The foundation aims at giving comprehensive treatment that involves not just the surgery but also Orthodontics, Speech Therapy and counselling and Genetic evaluation to enable these children and young adults to integrate into the society.
GECSRF funds are helping Inga perform free surgeries and provide the necessary treatment for children and young adults born with deformities of skull and face. Through our funding, 85 children will receive these life changing services.s

Thei multidisciplinary courses on critical thinking and social consciousness will instill a love of learning in our students. The ‘Night School Transformation Program’ is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the night school and the individual students who are mainly school dropouts from poor socio-economic background - most of them working during the day and supporting their families.

As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost, interventions to address gaps in the education system. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage.
Great Eastern CSR Foundation has partnered with Pratham to provide support to their work in one school for the underprivileged children andNon Formal Learning Centres. Through our support, more than 800 children from one of the most vulnerable backgroundsare getting access to quality education, life skills, career guidance and computer literacy.

XRCVC also works towards the development of an inclusive society for visually handicapped people by working closely with government and private stakeholders.

They run a quality, English education school (the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mumbai Public School) in Crawford Market, Mumbai. The NGO also runs the ‘Sustained Mastery Program’, which is an initiative to provide high quality training to the teachers of government and private schools.
Great Eastern CSR Foundation partially funds the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mumbai Public School. In addition to funding the School, the Foundation is also supporting the ‘Sustained Mastery Program’. This program is focused on spreading best practices to teachers across the country. Through these two interventions, 480 children are receiving quality education and teachers from different schools will get the training required to improve their teaching practices.

Antarang works with the 14 – 25 year age continuum through 2 structured programs • Career Aware - 14-17 year old children are given 15 hours of training over 5 sessions on various subjects to help them chart their career • Career Ready – 17-25 year olds undergo a 3 months training (5 modules) on various topics such as self-awareness, work ethics, spoken English. They are then connected with mentors and potential employers.
GECSRF supportis covering 40 CareerAware groups and 18 CareerReady groups over a 12 month period. Through these two programs, more than 1300 children and young adults will receive quality inputs to complete their education, learn a skill and get a job/livelihood.
http://antarangfoundation.org/SNEHA is a Mumbai based NGO that works in Mumbai’s slums to reduce maternal mortality, new born mortality, malnutrition and domestic violence. SNEHA runs a number of ‘SNEHA Centres’ across Mumbai Slums where community organizers work with individual residentsthrough home visits (to check on the status of children and mothers), group meetings, community events, referrals for appropriate services (such as doctors) and informal meetings. In addition, SNEHA also runs day care centres in which a teacher and a helper support children under 5 years of age with malnutrition, through feeding of Medical Nutrition Therapy, supplements, growth monitoring, personal hygiene and stimulation activities, medical screening and treatment with home follow-up by resource centre workers.
GECSRF is supporting once ’SNEHA Centre’ in Govandi that will cater to approximately 4000 households living in extremely vulnerable conditions.

EdelGive Foundation (EG) is the strategic philanthropic arm of the
Edelweiss Group. EdelGive offers both financial and capacity
building support to Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) by working
closely with them to help them overcome organisational development
challenges. Apart from providing financial and capacity building
support, EdelGive also acts as a catalyst between NPOs and
potential funders. EdelGive Foundation primarily works in 3 areas
- Education, Livelihood and Women Empowerment.
Since inception, education has been a major focus area for
EdelGive Foundation. It supports multiple education programs which
include Primary & Secondary School, Early Childhood Care Education
and Remedial Programs, Life skill Development and Research and
Advocacy. The EdelGive Coalition for transforming Education (ECE)
is EdelGive’s Public-Private Partnership that aims to transform
education in rural Maharashtra.
The project is a public private partnership between Edelgive and
the Govt of Maharashtra. The crux of the project is onsite support
and coaching to teachers, creation of peer learning communities
and cluster and block level intervention.
This is a five year project in total and is expected to impact
44,000+ children, 600+ schools, 2000+ teachers and 100+ school
managers. Great Eastern CSR funds are going towards supporting
this project.
Founded by Ms. Prema Gopalan, SSP works towards promoting empowerment of women as leaders and entrepreneurs through self-help groups, social enterprises and community led initiatives. SSP targets women farmers in small farm households and equips them with the knowledge and skill sets to utilize small portions of their family’s land to practice nutrition sensitive farming that provides much needed nutritious food crops for the family. These women are also trained in sustainable farming practices and water conservation to make the most out of their land.
GECSRF funds are helping SSP to create livelihoods for 5000 women across 50 villages in Latur and Osmanabad in Maharashtra in addition to sustainable solutions to drought and allied issues.
http://www.sspindia.org/Muktangan is a new model of education providing quality, child-centred, inclusive English-medium schooling to thousands of underprivileged children in Mumbai. Muktangan has partnered with BMC to run a number of municipal schools in Mumbai. In addition, Muktangan runs a robust teacher training program that focuses on training passionate individuals from communities around their schools to become excellent teachers.
GECSRF is funding the Muktangan run, Prabhadevi Municipal School as well as the teacher training program. By funding the school, 400 children from low economic communities receive some of the best English-medium education available. Similarly, our funding towards the teacher training program goes towards improving the quality of educators entering the Indian education system.

Great Eastern CSR Foundation will be funding 46 Fellows from Pune and Delhi.The funds will go towards the recruitment, selection, training and placement of Fellows in under-resourced classrooms as full-time teachers for a period of two years. 1150 children will receive exquisite education through the 46 teacher in Pune and Delhi that are being funded.

Founded by Michelle and Hemant Chawla, this School for tribal
children is an initiative of the Tamarind Tree Trust, a non-profit
organisation based in Dahanu, Maharashtra. Situated in the Palghar
District of Dahanu, this English medium school has classes from
Nursery to Class 6. The school's aim has been to provide a good
quality learning environment for tribal children by combining
technology based education with hands on activities such as
farming, games and so on.
In addition to running the school, Tamarind Tree also runs ‘My Big
Campus’, a community owned wireless mesh project in Dahanu. This
mesh allow children free access to their educational digital
content at home on devices like a tablet, android phone, laptop or
computer.
GECSRF has partnered with Tamarind Tree Foundation to help fund
the running of the school. In addition to funding the running cost
of the school, GECSRF has also funded the development and
implementation of ‘My Big Campus’.
Our funding is ensuring that quality education is a reality for
165 children of a tribal community who are often neglected by the
mainstream education system. In addition, their wireless mesh
project is helping multiple families in relatively isolated
villages receive educational content directly at their homes.
LAHI is a non-profit venture launched in 2003 by young professionals that focuses on issues related to youth. LAHI runs a program that complements existing secondary school curricula with skills education, resulting in education that is relevant to employment. One of Lend-A-Hand India’s greatest strengths is that it actively collaborates with dynamic grassroot non-profit organizations to develop and implement innovative projects to help youth.
Our funding is going towards introducing the program in 10 new schools (in a district in Maharashtra), upgrading the training centre facilities and assisting 10 existing schools to become National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Compliant.In year one the program will benefit approximately 2200 children.
