Mr. K. M. Sheth

Chairman

Born in 1932, a student of the Sydenham College of Commerce, Bombay, he joined the Company in 1952; was inducted on the Board of Directors of the Company in 1970; became the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director in 1975 and rose to become the Chairman and Managing Director in 1992. After guiding the Company in its strategic and decision making policies as the Executive Chairman for more than 20 years, he ceased to be whole time Director of the Company in September 2014. He continues to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company.

Previously, he held the position of President of the Indian National Shipowners Association (INSA) and was the employers' group Chairman in the International Labour Organization (ILO) plenary session in Geneva. He was the recipient of the highest national maritime ‘Varuna Award’ in 2005 by the National Maritime Committee. He was the Chairman of the South Asia Advisory Committee of Lloyds Register, Chairman of the South Asia Committee of Det Norske Veritas and Chairman of the Indian Committee of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, Japan. He was also Chairman of Board of Governors of The Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies. He was a member of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), USA and Southeast Asia Committee of Korean Register. He was also on the Members’ Representative Committee of The Britannia Steamship Insurance Association Holdings Limited, London.

Mr. Bharat K. Sheth

Born in 1958, Mr. Bharat Sheth joined the Company in 1981, just after obtaining his Bachelor of Science (Economics) with honours from St Andrews University, Scotland. In the initial years of his career he worked very closely with his colleagues and gained expertise in chartering and Sale & Purchase activities, the most intricate part of the shipping business. He was inducted onto the Company's Board as an Executive Director on July 01, 1989 and became Managing Director of the Company on April 01, 1999. On August 12, 2005, he was appointed as the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of the Company. He is also the Chairman of Greatship (India) Ltd.

Mr. Berjis Desai

Mr. Berjis Desai is an eminent solicitor. After retiring as the Managing Partner of J. Sagar Associates, a national law firm, he is now an independent legal counsel engaged in Private Client Practice.

Mr. Berjis Desai has been practicing law since 1980. He specializes in financial and  Securities laws and structured finances. He has extensive experience both as an Arbitrator and Counsel in international commercial as well as domestic arbitrations. Mr. Berjis Desai is a frequent speaker and presenter at conferences and seminars. He has been a working journalist with a leading Indian daily and is a columnist in Indian newspapers.

Mrs. Bhavna Doshi

Mrs. Bhavna Doshi, founding partner of Bhavna Doshi & Associates LLP, an advisory firm, is former Senior Advisor to KPMG and former partner of KPMG member firm in India. With specialization in the fields of taxation and corporate restructuring, she has been providing advisory services to national and multi-national entities for over 30 years.
She is Chartered Accountant from India and holds Masters degree in Commerce from University of Mumbai. She serves as independent director on Boards of several listed companies. She was elected to the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for four terms of three years each. She has chaired Accounting Standards Board Research, Vision 2021 and other Committees of ICAI. She was also member of a group supporting Tax Administration Reform Commission chaired by Dr Parthsarathy Shome. She has served as a member of the Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board set up by the Controller and Auditor General of India. She was a Member of Compliance Committee of International Federation of Accountants, headquartered in New York. Mrs. Bhavna Doshi was President of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber and is actively associated with its activities. She, during her Presidentship, established “IMC Inclusive Innovation Awards” to recognize work of the grass root innovators which meet the criteria of “affordable excellence”. She is member of the Managing Committee of Assocham and of CII Corporate Governance Council.
She is a regular faculty at programs organized by professional institutes and business chambers and also delivers lectures abroad. Woman and child empowerment are very close to her heart and she takes out time for social activities. She is also on the Board of Greatship (India) Limited, the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary.

Mr. Keki Mistry

Mr. Keki Mistry is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Mr. Keki Mistry brings with him over four decades of varied work experience in the Banking and Financial Services domain.

In 1975, Mr. Mistry began his career with AF Ferguson & Co., a renowned Chartered Accountancy Firm, followed by short stints with Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and Indian Hotels Company Limited. In 1981, Mr. Mistry joined Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC), India's premier housing finance company. Over the years he held several responsibilities, prior to being inducted onto its Board as Executive Director in 1993. He was appointed as the Managing Director in 2000, as the Vice Chairman & Managing Director in October 2007 and was the Vice-Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of HDFC with effect from January 01, 2010. With the amalgamation of HDFC, Mr. Mistry superannuated from HDFC and has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of HDFC Bank Limited from June 30, 2023.

Mr. Raju Shukla

Mr. Raju Shukla has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from prestigious IIM Ahmedabad and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vivesvaraya Regional College, Nagpur. He is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Cleantech Renewable Assets Pte. Ltd. (Cleantech Solar Group), a Pan Asian independent power producer that owns and operates solar power plants across South East Asia and India for industrial and corporate clients. Cleantech Solar is a joint venture company with Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte. Ltd. which owns 49% stake in the company.

Mr. Shukla is the Founder of Ariana Investment Management, a fund management company regulated by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) with offices in Singapore and Mumbai. He was also Non-Executive Chairman of Ocean Dial Asset Management that manages over USD 500 Mn of assets investing in listed Indian equities.

Mr. Raju Shukla is a senior banking and investment industry professional with over 20 years’ experience. For over 10 years from 2003 to March 2014, Mr. Shukla served as Managing Director at Barclays Bank Plc., Singapore. Besides having regional responsibilities in Singapore, he was responsible for all of Barclays Capital India businesses across Wealth Management, Corporate and Investment Banking and led a team of over 200 people. Mr. Shukla was a member of the Asia-Pacific Executive  Committee of Barclays Capital - a regional committee responsible for driving Barclays Capital’s business strategy across the Asia Pacific Region including Japan and Australia. Prior to joining Barclays Capital, Mr. Raju Shukla worked for 9 years with Deutsche Bank, SBC Warburg and DSP Merrill Lynch etc. in senior management roles.

Mr. Ranjit Vasant Pandit

Mr. Ranjit Pandit holds an MBA degree from Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and a B.E. degree in Electronic Engineering from VJTI, University of Bombay. He served as a Managing Director at General Atlantic LLC between 2007 and 2012, and headed the India office where he served as Head of the firm’s growth investments activities across India, Later he served as an Advisory Director of General Atlantic LLC in 2013. Prior to General Atlantic, Mr. Ranjit Pandit served as Managing Director and Chairman of McKinsey & Company in India. Mr. Ranjit Pandit joined McKinsey & Co. in August 1980 and as a Co-Founder of McKinsey’s India office was transferred from New York to Mumbai in January 1993. As Managing Director - India for McKinsey & Co., he served a number of major U.S. and other global companies in a variety of areas, including corporate governance/leadership, corporate finance, alliances and operations management. Mr. Ranjit Pandit played a leading role in building McKinsey’s presence in India and helped a large number of world-class companies strengthen their competitive positions and support their international growth strategies.

Mr. Ranjit Pandit is currently an investor and a philanthropist with a controlling interest in several manufacturing businesses.

Mrs. Kalpana Morparia

Mrs. Kalpana Morparia is a graduate in science and law from Bombay University.

Mrs. Kalpana Morparia was Former Chairman of JPMorgan, South and Southeast Asia and was also a member of JPMorgan’s Asia Pacific Management Committee. Prior to joining JPMorgan, India, Mrs. Kalpana Morparia served in ICICI Group since 1975. Her last assignment included Vice Chair on the Board of ICICI Group Companies and Joint Managing Director of ICICI Bank from 2001 to 2007. Mrs. Kalpana Morparia has been recognized by several international and national media for her role as one of the leading women professionals. She is also a member of the Governing Board of Bharti Foundation, Foundation for Audit Quality (FAQ) and Krea University. She is also a Director of Generation India Foundation. She has been conferred the Padma Shri award in the category of Trade and Industry by the Government of India in January 2024.

Ambassador Shivshankar Menon is currently visiting professor at Ashoka University, India, and Chair of the Ashoka Centre for China Studies. He was previously National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Jan 2010-May 2014; Foreign Secretary of India, October 2006-July 2009; and has served as the Indian Ambassador or High Commissioner to China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Israel. In 2016 he published Choices; Inside the Making of Indian Foreign Policy. His book on India and Asian Geopolitics; The Past, Present (Brookings Press USA, Penguin Random House India) was released in April 2021. He has been a Fisher Family Fellow at the Kennedy School, Harvard University, and Richard Wilhelm Fellow at MIT in 2015. He was chosen as one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy magazine in 2010. He is also Chairman, Advisory Board, Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi; Distinguished Fellow of the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, India; Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore; Member, Board of Trustees, International Crisis Group; and, a Distinguished Fellow, Asia Society Policy Institute, New York.

Mr. T. N. Ninan

Mr. T. N. Ninan is widely considered to be a pioneering editor and trend-setter in Indian business journalism. In the course of a career spanning five decades, he brought about transformative change in different publications that he led as the editor. Over the years he has been involved with a number of non-profit organizations. Mr. Ninan was the editor of Business Standard from1993 to 2009, and from 1996 to 2009 its publisher as well. He was the Chairman of the company’s board of directors from 2009 till 2020. Earlier, Mr. Ninan was the editor of The Economic Times; and, in the 1980s, the executive editor at India Today. Mr. Ninan writes a widely-read weekly opinion column, Weekend Ruminations, in Business Standard; the column is translated and published in different vernacular publications. His book, The Turn of the Tortoise (2015), offered a critical assessment of India’s economic prospects. He has also been a television commentator on economic and business issues.

Since 2016, Mr. Ninan has been chairman of the board of trustees of Independent and Public-Spirited Media Foundation, the largest charitable funder of independent news websites. He was an independent director of The Press Trust of India Ltd, India’s leading wire service. He is a past president of the Editors Guild of India. Mr. Ninan is a recipient of professional awards, including two for lifetime achievement.

Mr. Uday Shankar

Mr. Uday Shankar is the founder director of Bodhi Tree Systems, an investment firm focused on creating large scale impact on the lives of consumers across industries. An acclaimed entrepreneur and executive, he is credited with transforming the media and entertainment industry in India and Asia Pacific over the last three decades. Mr. Uday began his career as a journalist before assuming leadership of Star India (later Disney Star) and creating the largest media and entertainment business in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr. Uday is also a pioneer of digital transformation in legacy media businesses which became the engine of digital transformation of media and entertainment in India and rest of Asia. He led the roll out of Disney+ Hotstar and Disney+ in the Asia Pacific Region. His astute understanding of the power of digital technologies to transform consumer proposition is the corner stone of the investment thesis of Bodhi Tree where he is the Founder/Director.

Teaming up with James Murdoch, he launched Bodhi Tree Systems with a mission to make large scale impact on consumer aspirations and to transform the quality of life of consumers in developing markets. Besides media, Bodhi Tree’s areas of interest include delivery of education and healthcare. In 2022, Bodhi Tree Systems forged two strategic alliances: one with RIL’s Viacom18 to transform JIO Cinema into the leading destination for media consumption in India; and another with ALLEN Career Institute, where with the same, digital first strategy, Uday is driving the transformation of ALLEN that is redefining how students’ study and learn. Mr. Ravi K. Sheth

Mr. Ravi K. Sheth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, Wellesley, U.S.A. He has been associated with the Company since July 1990. He handled various functions over time and spearheaded various strategic initiatives of the Company. He was inducted on the Board of the Company as an ‘Executive Director’ on January 30, 2006.

Mr. Ravi K. Sheth was also entrusted with the additional responsibility of overseeing the operations of Greatship (India) Limited (‘GIL’), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, which is in the business of owning and operating assets relating to the offshore oilfield services. He was appointed as the Managing Director of GIL with effect from November 07, 2006.

With a view to focus on the offshore business, at his request, Mr. Ravi K. Sheth was relieved from the position of the ‘Executive Director’ of the Company w.e.f. April 01, 2015. Since then, he continues to be the Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Mr. Ravi K. Sheth has been providing outstanding leadership as Managing Director of GIL and has significantly contributed to the progress and growth of GIL, which is today one of India’s largest offshore oilfield services providers.

Mr. G Shivakumar

Executive Director and CFO

Mr. G Shivakumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a post-graduate in management from IIM Ahmedabad. He joined the Company as a management trainee immediately after completing his management in 1990 and contributed to the Company through stints in key functions like Treasury, Corporate Finance, Human Resources and Strategic Planning. He rose to become the ‘Chief Financial Officer’ of the Company in 2008 and the ‘Executive Director & CFO’ of the Company on November 14, 2014. He is also Chief Financial Officer of our subsidiary Greatship (India) Limited.

MR. AMITABH KUMAR

ADDITIONAL AND INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

Mr. Amitabh Kumar has distinguished service of 37+ years in Government of India, including 7 years at the helm of Maritime Administration as Director General of Shipping. He retired as Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax at the level of Secretary to Government of India. He has also worked as Director (Delhi), Ministry of Home Affairs. He has formulated Maritime India Vision 2030, including vision for green ports and shipping. He has led several delegations to International Maritime Organization, International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund (IoPC) and other International bodies to finalize international regulations for safety and security of ships, protection of maritime environment and promotion of green shipping. Mr. Amitabh Kumar has completed his B.A. (Honours) and M.A. (Pol. Sc.) from Hindu College, Delhi, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Cross University, Australia and Doctorate of Management (Honoris Causa), from AMET University.
